Okay, I get it. You hear the word “newsletter” and you think: dull, dull, dull! I don’t blame you; a lot of self-aggrandizing, poorly formatted, and/or dreck-filled missives land in my inbox fairly often. Why should you add one more?
In other words, what’s in it for you?
I’ll start with the title: Words That Breathe. Reading is breathing in, writing is breathing out. So if you’re either a reader or a writer (or both!), this is meant for you.
And it’s not about marketing: it’s about communicating. Writers don’t have a whole lot of contact with the people we write for. So in between writing my stories, I like to check in with readers and share what’s going on in my world and encourage them to tell me what’s going on in theirs.
Plus, this newsletter offers a whole range of ideas, topics, and even activities, including:
memes and thoughts I put together for my Patreon crew and that I share with newsletter readers once a month
actionable suggestions for doing some “literary” good in the world—so you have something you can do about book banning, literacy, etc.
links every month to four articles I found interesting and think you might, too
link to my most recent blog entry
writing tips for the month
at least one book review
link to my most recent podcast episode
one BSP (blatant self-promotion) section where I talk about what I’m doing at the moment
an opportunity to “win” something, usually a book (not one of mine) by sending me your answer to a question
So give it a try! Once a month only, and unsubscribe at any time.
Thank you!
Jeannette
